A specially created rose will be launched on Mother’s Day as a tribute to the lives of a young mother and baby, who lost their lives in the South-East Asian tsunami on Boxing Day last year. Model booker, Samantha Archer Fayet, aged 32 and her six month old baby, Ruby Rose, from were swept away in the disaster. Samantha’s husband , Patrice, survived when the tsunami struck their holiday resort at Khao Lak, Thailand. Close friends and the family of Samantha have started The SamandRuby Charity and have created a brand new Rose, a stunning pale pink rose-plant with a strong scent, which will be available from Mother’s Day, March 26th. Paris-based Samantha was a close friend of Kate Moss, who has also given a touching message of support to the launch of a charity and the special Sam and Ruby Rose in memory of lost mum and baby. The rose will be launched with limited availability on Mother’s day, but the Rose will be fully available from the new Rose season which starts in the autumn. Orders can already be placed. For every Rose sold, a percentage of the proceeds will to go help a school project for disadvantaged children in Thailand. The Rose has been developed with World of Roses. Samantha’s mother, Mireille said: "This Rose is in a sort of way my last present to Sam and Ruby. On the 19th of December the Sunday before they left for Thailand we all had an early Christmas lunch at Le Pere Claude, a restaurant in Paris. "Afterwards as Patrice drove his mum back, the four of us walked home. We came upon a florist with a lovely display of roses on its forecourt. Sam lifted Ruby Rose out of her push chair and stood her among them. I have this lovely photograph of Ruby Rose looking up smiling. "Ever since Ruby Rose was born the rose had somehow become our favorite flower and now even more so. Sam always loved pink and scent, she had so many perfumes bottles, and she loved scented candles, the expensive kind. "From World of Roses we found out that not only we could name a Rose of our choice but we could also use some of the proceeds for the Sam and Ruby charity. "We think we have found the perfect beautiful Rose. It’s not only a nice shade of pink but has a wonderful scent, to have in your garden or on your patio. "A Rose to look at and remember our lovely girls." Kate Moss, 32, has posed for a special black and white portrait with the Rose for world-renowned photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, to help promote the campaign and the charity. She commented: "Sam was one of oldest and closest friends. My heart goes out to Patrice and to Sam’s family and if my support for the SamandRuby charity helps children in Thailand get a better education and a better start in life, then it is the least I can do in memory of Sam and Ruby Rose. "Mother’s Day seems to be the perfect day to launch this beautiful Rose which I hope lots of people will buy, knowing they are supporting a very good cause in memory of a very special mum and her lovely daughter. Thank you for supporting Sam and Ruby." Samantha’s cousin, Alexandra Mackenzie said: "In the weeks and months following the tsunami the kindness and hospitality of the local Thai people was astounding. In their time of greatest need they reached out to help us. "This Rose makes such a thoughtful and poignant Mother’s Day gift and stands as a lasting tribute to a wonderful mum and her baby girl who were so tragically lost." The charity has already raised over £20.000. World of Roses: Tel:0845 2606888, or visit www.worldofroses.com.
