Becoming a Model

A career in modelling can offer fantastic opportunities to travel the world, meet diverse & interesting people and generate a good income. But before starting out, it's important to be aware that today modelling is a highly competitive industry where, however good your look, success can only be achieved with certain vital ingredients: dedication, a professional approach, a good agent and a bit of luck.

Models must work hard to look their best - a healthy diet, regular exercise and general TLC are all essential. What you wear is also important. But looking great is only half the job. Being professional is a must. This means turning up on time, having a positive attitude and generally getting along with everyone at the casting or on the shoot. If you can do all this, your chances of a good career will increase enormously. Remember that competition for work is fierce and standards today are higher than ever.

If all this seems daunting, don't forget that the agency is here to give advice and guidance on all aspects of our models' careers, including health and safety, personal care and even sorting out accommodation. For example, if someone is completely new to London we assign them a chaperone to go with them to appointments until they have settled in and know their way around.

PERSONAL SAFETY INITIATIVE

Lots of girls and boys want to get into modelling. Many are being exploited by unscrupulous adults posing as  bogus model agent.   Girls as young as 15 are spending up to £500 on portfolios of pictures that are useless  and being sold false promises of a successful modelling career.

Storm offers experienced, professional and caring advice on the correct procedures for getting into modelling,  and we can also advise about the  possible dangers.

These include invitations for personal meetings  from  people posing as agents on chat room sites.    We strongly recommend that young people interested in modelling visit Storm  at 1st Floor, 5 Jubilee Place, SW3 3TD;  we are also  members of the  industry regulator The Association of Model Agents – AMA.

Secondly, always visit with an accompanying parent, guardian or trusted adult.  If you can’t come to London then send snap shots through our website, or by post.  We are experienced enough to see from unprofessional and personal pics whether you are photogenic.

Parting with large amounts of money for pictures that are  not needed is a huge problem.  We will NOT ask you for any money up front – that includes NO joining fee.

We will take our own Polaroid shots in the agency as a starting place, and then we will structure your career according to your circumstances, look, age, style etc

We also offer sensible personal safety advice about going out, getting home, healthy living, finances  and dealing with general problems etc.

We do NOT work with any third parties (whether they are photographers or agents), who may claim to work  on our behalf to create portfolios for your benefit, as an introduction to Storm.

If you are interested in modelling we want to see you.  Stay smart and keep in touch.
